If you believe the version of the tale they tell down in Lynchburg, here's how this glass came to be.

Back in the day of the old school traveling salesman, one of them stopped in to chew the fat with Mr. Jack. As the talk inevitably turned to whiskey the salesman bet Jack that he could make whiskey stand on water.

To prove him wrong Mr. Jack promptly produced a bottle of black label and stood it on the table and said show me. Unfazed, the salesman whipped out one of the strangest glasses Jack had ever seen.

After a quick trip to the cave spring to get some water the salesman did indeed prove it and also won the bet!

Mr. Jack was so impressed he bought the glass and called it the "Cashier Jigger". And, as they say, the rest is history.
